What DE actually means

The machine will not run until the interlock confirms the door is latched. DE means that confirmation is missing. Newer machines display this as DC. Laundry caught in the seal is the usual answer.

What causes it, most likely first

    A sock corner holds the door a fraction proud, which is enough for the latch to miss.

    How to check: Open the door and run a hand right round the seal.
