What LE actually means
The motor drew current without the rotor turning as expected. On LG's direct-drive machines there is no belt or brush to blame, so the shortlist is a physical obstruction, a loose rotor bolt, or the stator and control board. Worth ruling out an overloaded drum first — it is a genuinely common innocent cause.

Electrical safety: Direct-drive motor and board work involves mains voltages. Unplug before any panel comes off, and do not run the machine with panels removed.

Object jammed between drum and tub
CommonAn underwire or coin wedged behind the drum physically stops it turning.
How to check: With the machine unplugged, turn the drum by hand — it should spin freely.
Loose rotor bolt
OccasionalThe central bolt holding the rotor to the drum shaft can work loose, so the motor turns without driving the drum. A known and repairable LG issue.
Failed stator or hall sensor

How to fix it, step by step
Unplug and turn the drum by hand
Rotate the drum through several turns both ways. Free and quiet is good; a hard stop means an obstruction, a deep rumble points at bearings.
5 minRemove most of the load and retry
Take all but a couple of items out and run a spin-only cycle. Success means it was a loading problem.
10 minPower-cycle and try a bare spin
Switch off at the wall for a minute, restore power, and spin an empty drum.
10 minBook an engineer and mention the rotor bolt
If a bare drum still throws LE, quote the code and ask them to check the rotor bolt first — it is a quick, cheap fix compared with a stator or a board, and it is easily missed.
