What E01 actually means
The interlock never confirmed the door was latched, so the cycle will not start. On this platform a failed interlock is a genuinely common cause, but check the seal for trapped laundry first — it costs nothing and fixes it more often than not.
What causes it, most likely first
Laundry caught in the door seal
Most likelyA trapped corner of fabric holds the door fractionally proud so the latch misses its catch.
How to check: Open the door and run a hand right round the seal.
Door not closed firmly
CommonThe door needs a positive push until it clicks audibly.
Failed door interlock
CommonInterlocks are a known wear point on this platform. The door latches mechanically but the contacts no longer report to the board.

OccasionalThe loom to the lock flexes with vibration and can fracture inside its insulation, mimicking a dead lock.

How to fix it, step by step
Clear the seal and close firmly
Run a hand round the whole seal, remove anything caught, and push the door until it clicks.
2 minPower-cycle
Switch off at the wall for a full minute, then restore power and try again.
3 minInspect the catch
Check the hook on the door edge for wear or cracks, and watch whether the door drops as it swings.
5 minTorchReplace the interlock if it persists
A cheap part, but reaching it means working behind the door seal retaining band with the machine isolated.

Parts you might need
Typical UK prices for the part alone, before fitting. Worth knowing before you accept a quote — the part is often a small share of what a repair is priced at.
Wiring loom / connector
Chafed wires and corroded connectors mimic dead components. An engineer will always check continuity before condemning a part.
£10–£45Door interlock
The electrically operated latch that proves the door is shut before the machine will fill, and holds it shut until the drum stops.
