Beko E01 on a washer dryer

Door lock fault — the machine cannot confirm the door is secured.

The same code appears on Blomberg and Grundig machines — they share the same control platform.

What E01 actually means

The control board never received confirmation from the interlock that the door was latched, so it will not start the cycle. Start with laundry trapped in the seal, which accounts for most cases, before assuming the lock itself has failed.

What causes it, most likely first

  1. Laundry caught in the door seal

    Most likely

A trapped corner of fabric holds the door fractionally open so the latch misses its catch.

How to check: Open the door and run a hand right round the seal.

  2. Door not closed firmly

    Common

The door needs a positive push until it clicks audibly.

  3. Worn catch or dropped hinge

    Common

The plastic hook wears or the door sags so it no longer enters the lock squarely.

  4. Failed door interlock

    Occasional

The lock latches mechanically but its contacts no longer report to the board.

  4. Replace the interlock if it persists

A cheap part, but reaching it means working behind the door seal band — a short engineer visit if you would rather not.
